If you also factor in the story of Lilith and Adam, sounds like it was a wild time back then.

I predicted a lottery number from a pattern, is the lottery NOT random or is random held to a universal force?
by EndofMysteries ini've studied and observed several lottery patterns.
this one is now gone so nothing lost by revealing it.
i had a certain history search and noticed that almost each week the past few months a list of numbers not used recently were being used 1 per week.

Yep, you got lucky.
The study of chance, risk and chaos theory is a fascinating and complex line of study. I can recommend a book called 'against the gods, the remarkable story of risk '.
Basically, unless you are god, you cannot predict a random pattern of numbers similar to a lottery draw.
Most gambling systems, like counting cards in blackjack give the gambler minuscule improvement in his chances to avoid catastrophic failure.
Someone else in this thread also mentioned large groups of numbers, which are needed to have any chance to recognise any sort of pattern.
Insurance companies use these numbers to calculate how much risk they can afford based on the probability of a particular event happening once or reoccurring.

It's OK to be an Apostate ... but only if you're on the Governing Body
by Simon inlook at the governing body.
none of them believe now what the wts believed back when they were born and later baptized.. so why aren't they disfellowshipped for apostasy?.
simple - because the true beliefs are always taken to mean whatever they currently consider them to be.. think about it - they can never be apostates because whatever they decide to believe becomes "the truth" and anyone not believing it is then guilty of apostasy, even if they believe things the wts has taught them all their lives.. if you do believe in the bible and jesus story, do you think this is what he intended?

Unfortunately they take it one step further and preach all current teachings as "truth from God" to the whole world.
The only problem is that truth never changes.
Belief is not the same as truth.
Sincerity is not the same as truth.
Faith is not the same as truth.

Noah's Ark
by Darkknight757 inso i'm reading the book "the atheist book of bible stories" and something just occurred to me.. noahs ark rested on the top of mount ararat.
how the hell did all the land animals, dinosaurs and other monsters get to ground level?
did noah and his family just push them off the mountain and hope for the best?

I read recently on this site a point that I had never thought about; that the Egyptian empire overlapped the year of the flood.
The hieroglyphics therefore, are proof in pictures of the diversity of animals on the earth at that time. Without even researching I can name a few different types of snake that appear on the hieroglyphics, the horned viper and cobra.
According to some literalists, Noah only took one kind of each animal, so if he only took a Cobra for example, to represent the snake world, then how on earth were there various types of snakes, already existing, the instant after Noah left the ark according to the hieroglyphics? Hieroglyphics depict lion hunts and herds of animals like gazelles etc , so it suggests there was always an abundance of animals without interruption.

When the Paris attacks happened I was disturbed at the amount of racist B.S. that came through onto my facebook feed from friends and relatives. Nothing too nasty, mainly just racist jokes. Not everyone but a few people surprised me.
Acting like a racist idiot might make people feel better but acting like a racist idiot won't solve this problem or any other problem. Racism is the politics of lazy people.
For some reason I thought about the Nazi's. They were a Christian group, formed in a Christian country and they even had their own religious slogan, 'God is with us'. Yet I have never heard anyone say that Christianity should be eradicated based on the actions of this largely 'Christian' group. What the Nazi's did to their fellow human beings make current events look like a picnic.
Its all so, so sad.

Aus Bethel reducing numbers dramatically.
by joey jojo insorry if this is old news but just heard that there will only be about 75 people left at sydney bethel after layoffs.

My jaw dropped when I heard how much the numbers were going to be slashed.
I consider my source reliable but am looking forward to someone confirming this because this indicates a virtual shut-down of Australian bethel, which would mean lots of unused land and empty buildings.
Hopefully someone else on this forum knows more.

Any funny stories of when a"brother" giving a talk, said something "funny" or "questionable", and didn't even realize it?
by Dunedain inthere were always all types of speakers in the org.
myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.
other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

Not sure James but the point of his argument was; 'you can't turn your back on young ones for a second'.

In the mid-eighties, one of the MS's in our congregation gave his very first public talk.
He was a real 'hick' and his theory must have been to make the biggest impact possible during his first talk.
It was full of completely shocking, outrageous stories designed perhaps to stun us all into being better JW's.
Among the highlights was a story warning against pre-marital sex that concerned 2 infants (both were 3yrs old apparently- yes THREE years old) that were caught committing fornication in the car while the adult quickly left them to go into a store to buy something.
This was greeted by audible gasps from the gob-smacked audience.
